Free Verse Poem: Forgive Me

For diving into the pool
Of light cloaking a
Soul that refuses to accept change.
For trying to fish
A piece of my sanity
Out of someone else -- who
Doesn't have enough of their own.
For the smell of burning rubber
That lingers, and the guilt
I have for believing
In someone who only wanted
To slash holes in my heart.
